HALLOWEEN!!!
So on my drive in this morning to work; I remembered that today 3 years ago I made the big move to Arizona. Travis was 9 months old, and the drive was horrible. If anyone has driven from San Diego to Phoenix in a U-Haul, they will understand my misery. That night we went trick or treating for the first time and Travis was the cutest little monkey I had ever seen. He sat in his stroller and was such a ham. Lucky for him mommy and daddy were there to test the candy to make sure it was safe.
The following year Travis was a vampire, last year he was Lil’ Frankenstein, and this year he is BATMAN. He is very excited about going trick or treating and so am I. His auntie Adrienne will be with us for the first time, which will be fun. Also joining him in his "tricking people into giving him a treat" will be Miss Kylie, Jenna’s little darling of a daughter. Travis is a big fan of Kylie also, who wouldn’t be she is so cute. I think I am more excited than Travis is, but then again I usually am the most excited about things.
Then I got to thinking about my past Halloweens and how much fun I used to have. But then I was young and didn’t have a care in the world. We (my friends and I) would get dressed up, drink a little, and then hit the haunted houses on Market Street or the Haunted Trail in Balboa Park. Or we would party all night in my studio apartment; how I never got in trouble I don’t know. For those of you who are just meeting me, I wish you could have seen me before a kid. I was wild and crazy, but I was fun and loving. In my many years of dressing up, I have been a cheerleader, a pilgrim, a school girl, a bad angel (the wings for that were awesome), a witch, and a pumpkin. I don’t think I will ever dress up again unless there is a lot of liquor in my system, haha. I always wanted to be a fairy for Halloween, but I would have to say the witch, and bad angel fit me better.
Halloween has got to be one of the better holidays because there aren’t really high expectations for you. You don’t need to cook an elaborate meal; you don’t need to spend hundreds of dollars on people. I just simply need to teach my son “trick or treat” and “thank you”, and get him a costume. Although I do miss passing out candy and checking out all the cute little costumes, I love watching my son get so excited when someone gives him candy. Oh the simple things in life that amuse children. Halloween is about being scared, and having someone there to “protect” you, it’s about seeing kids smile, it’s about being “neighborly” and saying hello to your neighbors that you never talk to. It’s about wearing something ridiculous and getting laughed at, or for some a day where they can express their hidden passions. Its also about pumpkins, which is my favorite scent. Its about carving them and gutting them and baking the seeds. Its about watching the candle inside bring it to life.
Well now that I have rambled about Halloween, I just want to wish you a Happy Halloween, and remember be safe!

About Me
My name is Jennifer, and I am 26 years old. I live in Arizona currently but my heart will always belong to San Diego, CA. I graduated from Scripps Ranch High school in 2000, and as much as I never thought I would be saying this, I miss school. I miss hanging out with my friends, and not having any cares in the world, except for homework and boys, haha. I moved out here to Arizona 3 years ago, to raise my son since it is a lot cheaper here. We have grown accustomed to the heat, but definately miss the smell of the ocean.
My BF, Cameron, and I have a 3.5 year old DEVIL, Travis, haha. He is the best thing that has ever happened to us, but he is a handful. We just moved into our first house, renting of course, but have tons of extra space now. I love my mini family, but at the same time I miss the simple pleasures in life. Like sleeping in, not worrying if there is something on the groud for a child to get into, or sleeping all night. But with a child comes a whole new meaning of life. Something as simple as Travis laughing or smiling makes my heart melt. He is very curious and definately not shy. He tell you if you stink or if you look beautiful (that one is my favorite). He will look out the window in the car and ask about the corn fields, or tell me to slow down because the light is red. He is all I could have ever asked for.
Even though he is an only child right now, he is never bored. We have 2 dogs and 2 cats that he loves. And he has a lot of GF's at daycare. He is very active and he has made me want to change myself. I am starting to set goals for myself, that I never thought I would do. My first will be to lose weight and run a marathon. Probably something for Alzheimer’s, since it runs in my family. I also want to be smokin hot when I finally get married. :)
